Improving emergency care at Villa Maria Hospital<\/h1>\n

Uganda has one of the highest incidence rates of road deaths and trauma on the African continent. Although Villa Maria Hospital<\/a> is the only referral hospital in the catchment area of the Ugandan Kalungu district, the staff have little knowledge of emergency care. In addition, the hospital is inadequately equipped. The aim of the partnership project was to strengthen the capacity of the emergency department by training local healthcare staff and improving the hospital’s medical equipment and processes, thereby increasing the chance of survival for trauma and emergency patients.<\/p>\n
