With the project “Advanced Life Support (ALS) Courses in Uganda”, the AGNF, together with its local partner Makerere University and the ERC (European Resuscitation Council), has strengthened the emergency medical structures in Uganda and trained medical professionals in the field of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. As part of the ERC course formats, 172 ALS providers, 52 BLS providers and 106 ILS providers with certificates as well as 15 instructors were trained.<\/p>\n
The training of local instructors and course directors ensured that the local partners would later be able to conduct ILS (Immediate Life Support) and ALS (Advanced Life Support) courses independently. This will establish the standardized and continuously modernized ERC course formats in Uganda on a long-term and sustainable basis.<\/p>\n

As a professional medical training center with good relationships with various hospitals in and around Kampala, Makerere University is the perfect regional partner to build a comprehensive network.<\/p>\n Since 1989, the ERC<\/a> has been standardizing and modernizing resuscitation guidelines and training in Europe and beyond. The transfer of the ERC guidelines and the establishment of an ERC course center in Uganda will ensure the quality of the resuscitation courses.
